Wolves Knock Out the Nuggets, Advance to Round 2
Minnesota Teams
Timberwolves advance to the second round! Jaden McDaniels had a monster game — 32 points and 10 rebounds — as Minnesota beat Denver 110-98 in Game 6 to eliminate the Nuggets from the playoffs. It's a big deal: the Wolves took down a Denver team that has been one of the NBA's best squads in recent years, built around superstar Nikola Jokić. Stay tuned for who Minnesota faces next.

NFL
The 2026 NFL Draft is in the rearview mirror, and the grades are rolling in. Wide receiver Makai Lemon became the first first-round pick to sign his rookie contract. As always, analysts are handing out letter grades to every team's draft class — though history shows those grades are often way off once the players actually suit up.
The Houston Texans face a big decision on quarterback C.J. Stroud. After paying their star pass rusher Will Anderson, the question is whether Houston will lock up their young QB with a big contract extension. NFL executives around the league are split on whether he's worth top dollar.

NBA
The New York Knicks did something almost unbelievable Thursday night. They led the Atlanta Hawks by 47 points at halftime — the largest halftime lead in NBA playoff history — and ended up winning by 51. The Knicks are through to the second round, and the Hawks are heading home embarrassed.
Elsewhere in the playoffs, Detroit is forcing a Game 7. The Pistons were down 24 points to the Orlando Magic before roaring back to win 93-79. Game 7s are single-elimination — one game, winner moves on — so that one will be worth watching.
The Philadelphia 76ers are still alive too, surviving to fight another day in their series, while the Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors head to a Game 6.

MLB
The New York Mets are in full crisis mode. Despite having the second-highest payroll in baseball, they have the worst record in the majors at 10-21. The team's president of baseball operations says manager Carlos Mendoza won't be fired — but after a rough 2025 and an even rougher start to 2026, Mets fans aren't happy.
On the flip side, here's a fun story: Chicago White Sox rookie Munetaka Murakami — a Japanese star making his MLB debut — hit his league-leading 13th home run of the season in an 8-2 win over the Padres. Thirteen homers before May is a remarkable pace.

NHL
The Buffalo Sabres just ended an 18-year drought. Buffalo beat the Boston Bruins 4-1 in Game 6 on Friday to win their playoff series — the first time the Sabres have advanced past the first round since 2007. That's a long time for a fan base to wait, and this one is being celebrated loudly in Buffalo.
