Anthony Edwards Saves the Wolves — Plus the NBA Draft Lottery Shakes Up the League
Minnesota Teams
Timberwolves even series with Spurs, 2-2 — Anthony Edwards was electric on Sunday, scoring 36 points — 16 of them in the fourth quarter — to rally the Wolves and even their playoff series with San Antonio at two games apiece. The Spurs were already in a tough spot: their star center Victor Wembanyama (the 7-foot-3 phenom widely considered one of the best young players in the league) was ejected in Game 4 for throwing an elbow at Timberwolves forward Naz Reid — the first ejection of his career. With Wemby out and Edwards on fire, Minnesota made the most of it. Series is tied, and this one is getting interesting.

NBA
Cavaliers stay alive against Pistons — James Harden hit three big shots in the final two minutes and Donovan Mitchell poured in 35 points as Cleveland beat Detroit 116-109 on Saturday, cutting the Pistons' series lead to 2-1. Harden, the veteran guard known for his scoring, showed up when it mattered most.
Wizards win the NBA Draft Lottery — The Washington Wizards — one of the league's worst teams this season — won Sunday's draft lottery and will have the first pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Experts project they'll select AJ Dybantsa, a highly touted young prospect. The Chicago Bulls, Memphis Grizzlies, and LA Clippers also landed favorable picks, making this one of the more consequential lotteries in recent memory.
Thunder become the league's new villains — The Oklahoma City Thunder (led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander) have apparently become the team everyone loves to hate, with the Lakers being the latest to complain about how games are officiated when they play OKC. Whether it's fair or not, the Thunder are clearly the team the rest of the league is talking about.

Baseball mourns Bobby Cox — Hall of Fame manager Bobby Cox passed away at 84. Cox managed the Atlanta Braves for decades, winning the 1995 World Series and an almost unbelievable 14 consecutive division titles. Players and coaches across the league paid tribute to him Saturday, calling him a legend of the game.
Rare May trade: Catcher heads to Cleveland — In an unusual move — teams rarely make trades this early in the season — the Cleveland Guardians acquired catcher Patrick Bailey from the San Francisco Giants. Bailey is considered one of the best defensive catchers in the game, and Cleveland clearly wanted to shore things up behind the plate.
