Spurs Eliminate Timberwolves in Game 6 Blowout, Advance to Face Thunder
Minnesota Teams
Timberwolves season ends with a thud. The San Antonio Spurs knocked Minnesota out of the NBA Playoffs with a dominant 139-109 win in Game 6 on Friday night. A young Spurs trio — Stephon Castle, De'Aaron Fox, and Dylan Harper — combined for nearly half of San Antonio's scoring. The Wolves just didn't have an answer.
What went wrong? Minnesota has been a step behind the West's elite all season, and the series exposed that gap. The Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns trades from recent years still hang over this roster — the Wolves are good, but clearly a tier below the conference's best. Expect an interesting offseason.

NFL
Aaron Rodgers isn't done yet. The 42-year-old quarterback is returning to the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one-year deal for his 22nd NFL season. He'll reunite with coach Mike McCarthy, who coached him for years in Green Bay. Love him or hate him, Rodgers is still making headlines.
Fantasy football season is already brewing. If you're the type who gets dragged into a fantasy league at work, SportsLine has already cranked out its 2026 rankings — including sleepers and busts — for the upcoming season.

NBA
Spurs vs. Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. With the Wolves dispatched, San Antonio moves on to face the Oklahoma City Thunder in what analysts are calling the most-anticipated series of the 2026 playoffs. This is being billed as the NBA's "next great rivalry." If you're going to tune into one basketball series, this is the one.
Pistons refuse to die. Detroit mounted a massive second-half comeback to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers and force a Game 7. The Pistons have now won four elimination games this postseason — they just keep surviving. Winner of Game 7 moves on to face the winner of the East's other series.
A'ja Wilson is absurd. In WNBA action, Wilson dropped 45 points on 15-of-18 shooting — yes, you read that right — in Las Vegas's 101-94 win over Connecticut. It's her fifth career 40-point game, a WNBA record.

MLB
It's Rivalry Weekend. MLB is running its annual cross-town/cross-league rivalry matchups, and the headliners include Yankees vs. Mets and Cubs vs. White Sox. CBS Sports actually ranked the Cubs-White Sox matchup above the Subway Series — Chicago fans, feel free to gloat.
Guardians shaking things up. Cleveland dropped outfielder Steven Kwan from the leadoff spot for the first time in nearly four years. He's been struggling mightily in May, and there's chatter he could be a trade candidate. Worth watching if you're tracking the AL Central.

NHL
Sabres force Game 7 in dramatic fashion. Buffalo pulled their starting goalie after he allowed three goals on just four shots, and backup Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen came in cold and shut the door with 17 saves. The Sabres exploded for an 8-3 win over Montreal to stay alive. Game 7 should be a thriller.
Avalanche vs. Golden Knights up next. The other Western Conference Finals matchup is set: Colorado vs. Vegas. Two high-powered offenses, two Stanley Cup contenders. Schedule and preview details are coming.

College Sports
Michigan's Final Four hero is coming back. Elliot Cadeau, who won Most Outstanding Player at the 2026 Final Four, announced he's returning to Ann Arbor next season. That's a massive keep for a Wolverines team with legitimate repeat aspirations.
Stanford women's basketball in rough shape. A report came out that head coach Kate Paye has fostered a "toxic" environment, and players have been transferring out. The Cardinal — once the gold standard under Tara VanDerveer — haven't made the NCAA tournament since Paye took over two years ago.

Other Sports
PGA Championship is underway. The year's second major golf tournament is being played at Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania. Scottie Scheffler called the pin placements "the hardest I've seen on Tour," and Bryson DeChambeau missed the cut entirely — he won't be playing the weekend.
Conor McGregor is (supposedly) coming back. UFC announced McGregor will return at International Fight Week in July to face Max Holloway. McGregor fights generate massive buzz, but he's had a habit of pulling out recently, so — we'll see.
Francis Ngannou made a statement. The former UFC heavyweight champion knocked out Philipe Lins in the first round on Saturday and proclaimed himself the "best heavyweight in the world." Hard to argue after that performance.
Manchester City wins the FA Cup. City beat Chelsea 1-0 in the FA Cup Final on Saturday — their 16th major trophy under manager Pep Guardiola. Not their best season by their standards, but they keep finding ways to win.
