Happy first weekend of summer, Minnesota! It’s a pretty quiet weekend for our local pro squads, but here is where we stand. The Twins are grinding through the middle of their MLB schedule as summer heats up. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves and Wild are navigating their respective offseasons, and the Vikings are wrapping up their summer minicamps before everyone takes a break ahead of training camp next month.

NFL

Football is still a couple of months away, but the Tennessee Titans are making major headlines. They just signed their star defensive tackle, Jeffery Simmons, to a massive 3-year, $105 million extension, making him the highest-paid player at his position. The Titans also have a new head coach, Robert Saleh, who is generating feel-good buzz as he lives out his father's dream of coaching at the NFL level.

NBA

As the NBA Draft approaches, all eyes are on the Milwaukee Bucks and their superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo. Trade rumors are swirling, but the Bucks reportedly have an "unrealistic" asking price for the two-time MVP, meaning he probably isn't going anywhere cheaply. Over in San Antonio, guard De'Aaron Fox had a rough NBA Finals recently, but the Spurs are expected to hold onto him for now rather than rushing into a trade.

MLB

With the MLB trade deadline about six weeks away, rumors are starting to heat up. The Detroit Tigers are open to trading their ace pitcher, Tarik Skubal, but only if a team meets their incredibly high asking price, while the New York Yankees are looking for help at the catcher position. Away from the field, fans are keeping a nervous eye on labor negotiations; the league just proposed a massive overhaul to the amateur draft, which could eventually lead to a work stoppage if the players' union doesn't agree.

The NHL offseason is officially shifting into high gear! General managers around the league are starting to make big trades, swapping star players and prospects to shake up their rosters for next season. It's a great time to keep an eye on the transaction wire to see which teams are making aggressive moves.

College Sports

The College World Series finals kick off this Saturday, featuring an exciting matchup between the University of North Carolina and Oklahoma to decide the national championship in baseball. In football news, the Big 12 conference is making legal waves after filing a federal lawsuit over the eligibility of Texas Tech's quarterback, Brendan Sorsby.
